Mechanisterum Ex Colonia
Sir Joshua of Norfolk
A people evolved from plants. They are usually covered in leaves and are roughly humanoid. The leaves are usually cut in a human-like manner as is the current fashion, when they reach around 70 years old their leaves begin to turn a different colour, usually reds and oranges, at around 100 they begin to go brittle and by 120 they have usually lost all their leaves and look to be made entirely from bark. At this point the Chloris cannot photosynthesise and need to drink high nutrients liquids to be able to move. They will usually become immobile after a few months in this state and will bury themselves in the ground after a few years, and after approximately five years new young will sprout from the corpse.
They require a large amount of sunlight to sustain themselves which would require spending 12 hours a day basking in the sunlight to remain active, however they have developed ‘Sun Chambers’, rooms which blast them from all sides with high intensity ultraviolet light for approximately two hours, which is enough to sustain them for a full day. They also require water and, while it is not necessary for survival, in order to remain in good physical health they need to drink high nutrients beverages, leading to them having a reputation as the best fruit cocktail makers in the galaxy. They do not excrete anything, as any waste product, which are very few due to an intake of almost no solid matter, is disposed of by depositing in the outermost layer of leaves, which will be usually be cut when they grow too much.
